What begins as a creative pilgrimage to compose music with the land becomes a revelation beyond imagination. International recording artist and filmmaker Heather Schmid travels to the volcanic islands of the Azores to record a healing song with local musicians, blending ancient tones and modern science. But as the microphones open, the land itself begins to speak.

Through moments of deep stillness and raw vulnerability, Heather realizes that she is not simply listening to the Earth — she is in conversation with it. The project she thought she was directing begins to direct her. The camera captures an unexpected metamorphosis as Heather becomes the messenger for a consciousness far greater than her own: the living voice of the planet.

Guided by scientists, healers, and the emerging field of cymatics and sound medicine, the film traces how vibration connects all life — from the resonance that formed galaxies to the pulse within every human heart. Yet its core is profoundly personal: a woman surrendering to the unknown, allowing creation itself to move through her.

Filmed amid the wild majesty of the Azores and woven with original music born from this communion, Voice of the Earth is both a documentary and a spiritual awakening — a conversation between artist and planet, science and spirit, sound and silence.

Voice of the Earth reminds us that we are not separate from the Earth’s song. We are the instruments through which she sings.
